 Cheetah is a beautiful large cat with a spotted coat noted for its incredible bursts of speed. It is the fastest animals on the land. The name cheetah is an accurate description of the animals since it is an Indian word meaning spotted one .

Cheetah have long been associated with royalty. Ancient Egyptians kept them for pets and exalted them for their hunting prowess. Cheetah were once abundant throughout Africa Asia and India but their number have been greatly reduced due to loss of natural habitat poaching illegal selling of cubs and other factor. Approximately 10,000 cheetah currently remain in Africa and small groups of cheetah are found in other areas such as Iran. 

Cheetah are mostly solitary animals. Females are usually longer except when they are raising cubs. Male's called a coalition.males are very territorial and will marks their territory with urine. A male cheetah may remain with a female and cubs and teaching them to hunt. Cheetah can reach speed of 75 miles per hour in short bursts and can accelerate from 0 to 68 miles per hour in 3 second. 

The lifespan of a cheetah is approximately 10 to 12 year in the wild, or up to 20 or longer in captivity. Mating usually doesn't take place until the age of 3 years. Females give brith to an average litter of 3 to 5 cubs after a gestation period of 3 month. Cubs are born with sport and a downy fur called the mantle that extends down their back , although this fur is shed as the cubs grows older. The mother moves the cubs to a new hiding place every few days to protect them from predators. 

Cheetah are an endangered species. Cubs have a high mortality rate due to predators such as the hyena lion and other. Inbreeding has caused genetic abormalities that also contribute to the high rate of mortality . Cheetah play an important role in the stability of the ecosystem as do all species. There are several breeding program that are continuing in work to conserve and increase the population of these amazing animals

Tiger is our national animals. Easily recognised by its coat of reddish-orange with dark strips the tiger is largest wild cat in the world. The big cat tail is three feet long . On average the big cat weight 450 pounds about the same as eight ten-year-old kids.
